NASA lost rover in Martian mega storm

Opportunity and Curiosity are two high-tech rovers on Mars caught in the middle of a raging dust storm. The storm is so ferocious that the dust particles block out the sun! Both rovers were looking okay until Opportunity suddenly went silent. NASA are using all their instruments but they can’t communicate with him until the storm clears. Everyone hopes he’s ok and they’re doing everything they can to regain communications.

Tuesday 19th March, Senegal played Poland in the World Cup. The captain for Senegal is usually Cheickhou Kouyate but he didn’t play so his captainship was passed to Liverpool player, Sadio Mane. The captain of Poland was Lewandowski. At the end of the game, the score was 2-1 to Senegal!

The Damages of Plastic

Plastic is causing the most disastrous effects on our environment and to our animals. It is endangering species like turtles and dolphins, driving them towards extinction. Plastic is not only endangering our ocean creatures but also the coral reefs.

Straws are creating the highest level of damage. They are being eaten by animals of all kinds and are getting stuck in their throat, making it difficult to eat and breathe; as a result, suffocating the poor, innocent animal. In many incredible, kind food establishments, they have now transitioned to using paper straws rather than plastic. Could you do this too?

We need to stop this once and for all if we want to keep some of the most incredible, beautiful creatures on the planet.

Help protect all creatures in this wonderful world by using less plastic or recycling.

Man City Premier League

I think I speak for all of us when I say that Man City are looking good and keeping up their winning streak. They’re obviously stronger than they look and have crushed the teams that underestimated them, even though they have had some close scrapes with some rival teams. Thankfully the tension is over; they’ve won the Premier League!

I wish them the best of luck in their matches.

Ball-Tampering Scandal!!

The cricket world is still in shock from the scandal caught on TV: Australian bowler Cameron Bancroft tampering with the cricket ball.

Bancroft “ruffed up” one side of the ball, in order to create a Reverse Swing when the ball is thrown. A Reverse swing is harder to play, which means that the batsman will be less likely to hit the ball accurately and win runs.

The captain had given Bancroft some yellow sandpaper (used to maintain their bats) to roughen one side of the ball; the illegal action was caught on camera.

Captain Steve Smith and David Warner have received a one-year ban, and Smith has been replaced by Tim Paine as captain. The culprit, Cameron Bancroft, has been given a nine-month suspension.

The Royal Line of Succession

A new royal baby boy has been born: Prince Louis. This means that Prince Harry moves one step further down the Royal Line of Succession.

How does he correspond into the Royal Line of Succession?

Under the Succession to the Crown Act, princes no longer take superiority over their sisters-bringing an end to the system of male priority. Therefore, Princess Charlotte is fourth in line to the throne. As Princess Charlotte is Princess Kate and Prince William’s second child, she will be before Prince Louise in the royal line of succession.

Here is the close line of succession:

  1. Prince Charles Mountbatten-Windsor, Prince of Wales is first in line with a certain chance to obtain the throne once the Queen steps down.
  2. Second in line is Prince William IV Mountbatten-Windsor of Wales, the Duke of Cambridge.
  3. The son of Prince William- Prince George VII is the third in the line of succession.
  4. Princess Charlotte is fourth.
  5. Prince Louis is fifth.
  6. With the birth of Prince Louis, Prince Harry has now moved to sixth in line to be king.
